Coolpad Cool Play 6 launched with dual cameras, 6GB RAM for Rs. 14,999: Top features to win over buyers

Coolpad is one of the many Chinese tech companies that forayed into India with the aim to succeed in the ever-growing smartphone business. By launching competitive devices and selling them in large numbers, Coolpad has already made a name for itself in the country.

Coolpad smartphones are popular for the worth they bring to consumers who demand hi-tech features in a budget-friendly package. With the new Cool series, the company has been focusing on the mid-range segment and a new smartphone has made its way to the expanding portfolio.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 finally made its way to India after being launched in China in May this year. The handset is priced at Rs. 14,999 and it will be available exclusively on Amazon India from September 4 onwards.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 is not an ordinary phone even though the price tag may suggest otherwise. It is packed with top-notch features that will give other sub-Rs. 15,000 smartphones a good run for their money in the competitive Indian market.

Let’s take a look at the top features that make Coolpad Cool Play 6 worthy of your penny.

Coolpad Cool Play 6’s biggest USP is its camera, which falls in line with the emerging trend of dual sensors. The handset has two 13 megapixel Sony sensors (one monochrome and another RGB colour) on the back, with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. The handset supports 4K video recording and can create DSLR-like Bokeh effect.

On the front, the Cool Play 6 sports an 8 megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture, which should ensure quality selfies in challenging conditions.

Another important feature in the Cool Play 6 is its battery. As it is the smartphone packs a large 4,000mAh battery, which is charged through a reversible USB Type-C port, but the company has added software optimizations to boost the performance of the battery to match that of a 4,500mAh unit.

The company claims the large battery with integrated software in the device will ensure the phone to last up to two days. But that is subject to change depending on how consumers use the phone.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a powerhouse capable of handling the most difficult tasks with ease. In fact, the Cool Play 6 is probably the cheapest smartphone to come equipped with 6 gigs worth of RAM, which ensures seamless multitasking and day-to-day performance. The Snapdragon 653 chipset does the heavy-lifting with the help of the generous RAM inside the phone.

Adding to that, there’s 64GB storage in the phone along with microSD card support for extra storage. The handset can run two SIM cards simultaneously, supports 4G VoLTE, and has an efficient fingerprint scanner that makes your investment worthwhile.

Build and design

The Indian smartphone industry has become extremely competitive and any smartphone costing more than Rs. 10,000 is built to last. Coolpad Cool Play 6 is no different. The handset boasts of a metal unibody, which not only makes it durable but also ensures it looks and feels premium.

Adding to that, the phone has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, which is best suited for use indoors and in bright daylight.

Looks like an iPhone 7 Plus, costs half as much: Coolpad Cool M7 is here for you

Coolpad is making an appeal with the launch of its latest smartphone Cool M7 in China, which mimics the popular design of Apple’s current flagship, iPhone 7 Plus. Coolpad Cool M7 is unique on its own terms, but the attractive design offered at half the price of an iPhone 7 Plus is a good enough reason to survive.

For those who cannot afford an iPhone 7 Plus or prefer Android over iOS without giving up on the classy look, Coolpad Cool M7 serves a great purpose. Packed in a slim metallic unibody with no visible bezels on the sides and a minimalistic overall look, the Cool M7 will be available in China starting August 26. The handset is priced at ¥2699, which is roughly about Rs. 25,900.

Coolpad hasn’t shared any intention of launching the iPhone 7 Plus-lookalike in India, where it has a series of budget phones with great reception from consumers. Coolpad Cool M7 comes in two colours, matte black and blue, and mimics the iPhone 7 Plus to the tiniest detail of having a circular home button with a fingerprint scanner.

Unlike the iPhone 7 Plus, the Cool M7 features a single camera at the back and has a USB Type-C port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. Except for the looks, everything about the Cool M7 is different than the iPhone 7 Plus.

Coolpad Cool M7 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa core chipset clocking speeds at 2.Ghz, which is paired with Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The rear camera module on the Cool M7 looks a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual camera setup, but the former has a single 12 megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and dual tone LED flash. Towards the front, the Cool M7 packs a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and 79.8-degree wide-angle lens to capture selfies.

Under the hood, Coolpad Cool M7 packs a reasonable 3,200mAh battery, which is expected to last a day with average consumption. The handset supports 4G VoLTE, dual SIM card slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS as standard connectivity options. The handset runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Cool UI on top to offer a customized user experience.

Since the phone is available in China currently, it can be pre-ordered within the country from the popular e-commerce site
